So the former Mrs McCartney wanted the details of the divorce settlement kept private for her daughter's sake?

yeah, right.

Not that any of those comments will penetrate through and make her realise the problem lies with herself. That personality type will always seek to blame anyone else that fits, rather than look at themselves and go, "wow, everyone says this, maybe the problem DOES lie with me?".

That level of self reflection is denied to those so self absorbed they probably can't see their own reflection in a mirror.

I have to say - schadenfreude is strong with this one. I'm getting a perverse sense of enjoyment out of seeing her be so thoroughly put in her place, it almost makes me feel sorry for her. Almost.

In other news, I am horribly fascinated by the developments in the Shannon Matthews case - the man in custody is her step father's uncle, she was found hidden in a compartment under a divan bed where there were two sections to enable someone to sleep alongside her. She is voluntarily staying with child protection services rather than being returned to her mother, who has yet to see her other than through a two way mirror thing.

I'm so glad that poor girl has been found alive, but what on earth is going on? There seems to be more than meets the eye with the case. I hope the girl is getting the best care and support she can possibly have - it's all very odd indeed.

How many more ways could the judge have said "H Mills is a big fat liar"?

The Heather Mills stuff is all well and good, but anyone presenting their own case without the benefit of a lawyer to advise them is likely to encounter those same pitfalls. There's definitely some mileage in what she says about the legal system not wanting to encourage litigants in person, and I find it highly questionable that the judgement is being published in full, her reasons for opposing it notwithstanding. There seems no reason to publish other than to perpetuate the freak show and give the tabloids something to rake over. Admittedly Heather Mills comes across a bit barking, and she may well be, but I don't really understand how she's become such a monster. Is Paul McCartney really still untouchable because he was in the fucking Beatles?! What has he actually done in the last thirty years other than release the occasional monumentally crap record and sit in an ivory tower grinning himself silly over not having to share with that Lennon feller any more? I read the Sun's coverage of the case this morning and it's fucking horrific, just genuinely horrible about Heather Mills who, for all her faults, isn't public property and is a human being.

Heather has made that classic mistake, a la Ginger Spice and Jodie Marsh, of biting the hand that feeds her. She relied on the media for much of her income and fame, and yet turned round and said how much she hated them. That sort of thing will swing media (and by turns, public) opinion faster than you can say 'Max Clifford'.

She really is her own worst enemy though - things like turning up to a vegan rally to be their spokesperson in a 4x4 with leather seats and leaving the engine running while she makes a speech about going vegan for the sake of climate change? Not her wisest move. Sacking her legal team because they gave her advice she didn't want to hear (but really should have listened to)? Not her wisest move.

I don't think Macca is untouchable, I think he made a very bad choice when he married her, and that's his fault, she's obviously mental.

I can't stand her, personally, and that's based on seeing/reading interviews with her even when the reporter was on *her* side!!

I pretty much agree - I really don't get what she's done to deserve this vitriol from people and the media.

I have just been reading his entire judgement, and hooooo boy, he couldn't say 'Heather Mills is a lying c*ntrag', but he may as well have! You can download it here: http://www.holymoly.co.uk/mccartneydivorcejudgement.pdf

As for that Shannon case, I really don't know what to think of it all, except there's a big fishy smell surrounding the whole thing.

The judge is entitled to his professional opinion but given that Heather Mills has custody of their daughter, a child who is still very young and very much in the public eye, I think she has a fair point in asking for the judgement not to be published, whether it praised her to the skies or not. Why is it a good thing for a child that so many people who've never met her mother, never had any contact with her at all except through the media, think she's hateful and deserves hateful treatment, and have the apparent justification in the publication of this legal ruling.

This is not a public interest case, nobody NEEDS to know the exact terms of their divorce settlement. The amount of media intrusion into their lives and publicity about the case is out of all proportion to their importance. The sight of people enjoying her humiliation is really not very edifying, particularly given the private lives of many of the people writing and publishing such rubbish would undoubtedly not stand up to such an intense level of scrutiny either.

Excellently put.

if she was so concerned with the welfare of their child why has she been slagging off paul to all and sundry since they split up with all the stuff about him beating her and his ex wife and lots of insinuation. Even after she called for the judge not to publish she got a number of digs in against paul although saying it was her trusted sisters opinion and couldn't possibly be something she would say. the woman is her own worst enemy.

The judge is the one that had to put a gagging order on the details of the case in the first place because she wouldn't stop going on about it to the press. It's only now that the case had gone against her that she wants the press out of it, she was happily pursuing them before.

It's not intrusion when the person being 'intruded upon' is the one that sought the publicity in the first place.

I totally agree with the comments that she's her own worst enemy, and brought much of this on herself.

Agree with you about the shannon case! Social services have to be careful after the Maddie thing but it really does sound as if she ran away and hid. Who knows though - it could be really twisted!

(P.S.: Have you thought about Paul O'Grady for your rollergirling?)
Mar. 18th, 2008 09:55 pm (UTC)
Is Paul O'Grady still on? That might work...

not had a reply from loose women yet, grrr!
